Q - How do I plan my Cinch™ meals if I have diabetes? A - The Cinch™ Inch Loss Meal Plans have been well designed and appropriate for most people with diabetes. If you use the Cinch products and follow the meal plans as laid out, the overall carbohydrate content is about 40% of total calories. Cinch Shakes, Meal-in-a-Bar and Snack Bars have undergone glycemic index testing and meet the definition of "low glycemic."We have also attempted to guide you towards choosing foods in your meal plan with a low to moderate glycemic index. If you monitor your carbohydrate intake more closely, as part of your diabetes self management, the following list provides the carbohydrate content of the Cinch Shakes and Bars. Carbohydrate content information is also available for each of the Cinch recipes if you are following the pre-designed meal plans. Meal plans and recipes are available on the CinchCoach™ software in your starter kit or at Cinchclub.com. If you use diabetic exchanges to help with your meal planning those equivalents are listed below as well.
Q - Are Cinch™ Shakes safe for a woman with a history of breast cancer? A - While the majority of research conducted thus far suggests that neither consuming soy isoflavones or consumption of soy protein isolate increases the risk of breast cancer, the bottom line is that definitive data is not available. Therefore, Shaklee recommend that until it is available, women at high risk for breast cancer or women with a history of breast cancer should discuss the use of soy protein (including Cinch™ Shakes, Meal in a Bars and Cinch™ Snack Bars) with their personal health care provider in order to make the appropriate decision about soy consumption. If the decision is made to avoid soy based products we do offer a soy-free alternative with our whey protein blend Cinch™ Shake Mix. Q - What is the Glycemic Index (GI) of the Cinch™ Shakes and Bars? A - The Glycemic Index is a measure used to assess the rate at which carbohydrate in the foods you eat raises blood sugar. Foods with a GI value of less than 55 are considered to be "low glycemic". The specific values for the Cinch™ Shakes, Meal-in-a-Bars, and Snack Bars can be found in the Shaklee Product Guide and all fall well below the value of 55. Q - What is CinchCoach™? A - CinchCoach™ is a desktop software application that comes in the Cinch™ Program Guide and is designed to help you reach your weight and inch loss goals. Key features of the software allow you to set up a personal profile to help determine your calorie and meal plan needs for a healthy rate of weight and inch loss. It also allows you to access pre-designed healthy meal plans, personalize your own meal plan, create nutrition assessment reports, track your weight and inch loss and count the calories you burn during physical activity. It's a valuable tool and those who use it feel it enhances their success. Q - What is Purple Corn Extract? A - Purple corn, also known as blue corn is a natural herbal extract that has been shown in a number of laboratory studies to have weight loss potential. It is also a source of anthocyanins, a type of flavonoid known for its powerful antioxidant properties. Q - Can I mix my Cinch™ Shake with water? A - We recommend nonfat milk or low fat soy milk for the best nutritional profile and to provide you with the full amount of protein and leucine you need in the Cinch Inch Loss Plan but you may also mix the Cinch shake with water, using 1 ½ servings (3 scoops instead of 2 or 1 ½ packets) of powder in 8 oz of water. Q - What is EGCG? A - EGCG is a component of green tea that has been shown in clinical research to boost thermogenesis and boost metabolism. EGCG appears to work by increasing caloric expenditure and promoting fat oxidation (the burning of fat for energy)*. Clinical research on this ingredient has been conducted using 270 mg of EGCG, the same amount that Shaklee provides in the Cinch™ 3-in-1 Boost™. Q - How does the leucine content of the Cinch™ Shakes compare to other Shaklee protein powders? A - When compared on a per gram basis, the amino acid profile of the Cinch™ Shake is similar to that of Energizing Soy Protein and Instant Soy Protein Mix. However, per serving, Cinch Shakes provide more essential and branched chain amino acids, (including leucine). Shaklee Physique® has a slightly different amino acid profile than Cinch because it is derived from milk and whey protein isolate. In terms of quantity, Cinch and Physique contain similar levels of essential amino acids, but Cinch provides additional branched chain amino acids (including leucine). Additionally, the leucine in Cinch is added in the free form, whereas the leucine provided in other Shaklee products is derived from intact protein. Q - How does the Cinch Meal-in-a-Bar fit into the Cinch Inch Loss Plan? A - The Cinch Meal-in-a-Bar is designed to be used as meal replacement alternative to the Cinch Shake Mix. If you are tired of drinking two shakes a day, need the satisfaction of chewing your meal or need a highly convenient "meal on the go" feel free to substitute one shake a day with a Cinch Meal-in-a-Bar. Q - What is the Flexible Approach to using the Cinch™ Inch Loss Plan? What is the Structured Plan? A - The Cinch Success Guide describes two different approaches to using Cinch™ the Flexible Approach (pp. 7-10) and the Structured Plan (pp. 11-12). Either one can work well for you, and although the number of food servings may be slightly different between the two meal planning methods, both have been designed to help you to get the proper amount of calories and approximately 40% of calories from carbohydrate, 30% of calories from protein and 30% of calories from fat. Flexible Approach Structured Plan Q - Can I use the Cinch Inch Loss Plan if I am pregnant? A - Healthy eating during pregnancy and ensuring adequate calorie intake is important for your baby to grow and develop. Therefore, Shaklee Health Sciences does not recommend pregnant women follow the Cinch Plan for weight loss. However, the Cinch Shakes and Bars can be used by pregnant women as part of a healthy diet. Q - Can I use the Cinch Inch Loss Plan if I am nursing? A - You can follow the Cinch Inch Loss Plan while nursing your baby, with a few cautions from Shaklee Health Sciences. Make sure you're eating enough calories and drinking plenty of fluids so breast milk production isn't compromised. We recommend starting with the 1,800 calorie Cinch Plan. We also recommend that you discuss the use of the Energy Tea with your doctor, as it contains naturally occurring caffeine in the amount found in a half cup of coffee or black tea. Replace the Cinch 3-in-1 Boost supplement with Vita Lea with Iron, because the 3-in-1 Boost contains the herbal extract evodia, for which the safety of use in nursing women has not been studied. If at any time you notice a change in your breast milk production, you may want to check your calorie and fluid intake or consider discontinuing the program until you've finished nursing your baby. Q - Can children use the Cinch™ Inch Loss Plan? A - This program is not designed for children under the age of twelve. However for overweight teenagers (ages 13 to 17) a modified version of the Plan can be used. We suggest using one serving a day of the Cinch Shake as a healthy meal replacement and a second serving of Shake or a Cinch Bar as a healthy afternoon snack. In addition, we recommend replacing the Cinch 3-in-1 Boost with Vita Lea with Iron and limiting your child's intake of the Cinch Energy Tea since it contains naturally occurring caffeine. We also recommend consultation with your child's health care provider prior to beginning the program. Q - Can I use the two shakes for any two meals during the day? A - Yes. You may use the shakes for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and plan a sensible meal using the Meal Plan or servings and portion guidelines for your third meal. Q - I am vegetarian/ vegan, can I be on the Cinch™ Inch Loss Plan? A - Lacto-Ovo vegetarians can use the Cinch™ Inch Loss Plan. The Shakes can be mixed with nonfat milk or low fat soy milk. Cinch meal plans designed for Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians are available on the Cinch Coach™ software and are posted online at cinchclub.com. For strict vegans, please note that Cinch™ Shakes and Bars contain dairy ingredients. Q - Can I substitute meals (change days), or move food around during the day? A - As long as you stay within your calorie range, you may substitute meals or move food around over the course of the day. Q - Where can I find a list of free foods for the Cinch Plan? A - The list of "free foods," including non-starchy vegetables, certain condiments, and non-caloric drinks, has been published on the Cinch Club web site. Click here to view the list. Q - What is Shaklee's policy on animal testing? A - As a matter of policy, Shaklee Corporation is opposed to animal testing and does not conduct any animal testing of any kind on any Shaklee product marketed anywhere in the world. It is also the policy of Shaklee Corporation to actively support the development, use and approval of safe alternatives to animal testing throughout the world. Q - How much caffeine is in the Cinch™ Energy Boosting Tea? A - The tea contains approximately 70 mg of caffeine, about the same as ½ cup of coffee. Q - Can I take continue to take Vita-Lea® or Shaklee Basics® while on the Cinch Plan? What about other Shaklee supplements? A - When you combine two servings per day of the Cinch™ Shake, plus the 3-in-1 Boost™ Supplement you will be receiving more than 100% of the Daily Value of essential vitamins and minerals. Therefore, it is not necessary to take Vita-Lea or Vita-Lea Gold™ while following the Cinch Inch Loss Plan. Customers who use the Basics strips can continue to do so. If you anticipate being on the Cinch Plan for a few months, doubling up on Vita-Lea will be fine, but if you plan to use the Cinch Plan more long-term, we recommend you not continue the Vita-Lea. The use of all other Shaklee supplements (like OmegaGuard™, NutriFeron™, Joint Health Complex*, etc.) may be continued. However, we recommend that you discontinue taking Glucose Regulation Complex* because we have intentionally included all of GRC's key ingredients in the Cinch 3-in-1 Boost Supplement. Q - What is leucine? A - Leucine is an essential amino acid that travels directly to muscle to signal protein synthesis. It helps your body preserve muscle mass while you lose weight from fat. Q - How much caffeine is in the Cinch™ 3-in-1 Boost? A - The 3-in-1 Boost taken as directed, provides a daily intake of 540 mg of green tea extract. The green tea extract has a caffeine content of about 2 to 7%. Therefore, three tablets a day would deliver on average about 25 mg of caffeine per day. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Q - Do all the Cinch Bars contain peanuts? A - The Peanut Butter Crunch, Chocolate Decadence, and Lemon Cranberry Cinch Bars all contain peanuts. If you are allergic to peanuts or tree nuts you should not use Cinch Bars. Q - What Shaklee products contain gluten? A - The following information is based on ingredients that contain gluten. Although products not listed are likely to be gluten-free, we do not make that guarantee, because we do not test for the presence of gluten. While a number of products on the market claim to be "gluten-free," there is no legal standard for such labeling, and testing for the presence of gluten is not required to make the gluten-free claim. Marketers of gluten-free products may base the claim on the presumption that, since ingredients in the product do not contain gluten, the product is gluten-free. However, consumers sensitive to gluten should be mindful that "gluten-free" products made in equipment and/or facilities that also make gluten-containing products can contain gluten through cross contamination. Therefore, individuals who are severely sensitive to gluten should confirm that so-called "gluten-free" products are substantiated by tests showing that gluten is not present in the product.Shaklee Products that contain gluten: Food and Nutritional Supplements
About oats Q - Do Cinch™ products contain lactose/casein? A - The Chocolate Decadence Bar contains lactose, which may also contain casein. Individuals with lactose-intolerance can mix the Cinch Shake with soy milk or water as an alternative to non-fat milk. Q - Can I mix my Cinch Shake with water? A - We recommend nonfat milk or low fat soy milk for the best nutritional profile and to provide you with the full amount of protein and leucine you need in the Cinch Inch Loss Plan. If necessary, you may mix the Cinch shake with water, using one-and-a-half servings of powder in eight ounces of water. This provides about the same amount of protein and calories as when prepared with nonfat milk or low fat soy milk. Q - What are the glycemic index values for Cinch Shakes and Bars? A - The average Glycemic Index of the Cinch™ Shakes with skim milk is 19 and the Cinch Bars are 25. A score of 55 or less is considered as Low Glycemic. Q - What is maltodextrin? A - Maltodextrin is a carbohydrate made from the partial breakdown of starch present naturally in corn. The partial breakdown produces glucose polymers of varying chain lengths. The solution is filtered, spray-dried, and prepared into a powder. Because the starch is only partially broken down, it has a bland taste and a very low level of sweetness. Maltodextrin serves as a source of carbohydrate in food and nutritional products, a natural means for binding tablet ingredients together, and as a carrier for vitamins, minerals, and natural flavors and colors. Q - How can I find labels for Shaklee products? A - Product labels for Shaklee products are posted online in PDF format in several locations on Shaklee web sites. Click on the PDF icon to download, view, print or save these documents.
